Firstly, we, the committee of Nairn Highland Games want to give a big shout out to all our funders. Thank you for helping to make Nairn Highland Games the premier event in the Burgh calendar, and a financial success while keeping its status as the last free Games in the Highlands. We would like to particularly thank our major supporter – Royal Brackla Distillery – for their financial backing, and their presence at Nairn Highland Games in recent years. Nairn Highland Games has also been generously supported for nearly 160 years, by voluntary donations from individuals and companies and this helps make it all possible. If you would like to support us financially, then get in touch, as we are always thankful to hear from new donors. Nairn Games teaming up with Armed Forces Charity, SSAFA
Around 16 volunteers from the Inverness-shire branch of Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen’s Families Association (SSAFA) are to join the Nairn Games team at this year’s Games on Saturday 16 August. This partnership is a welcome development for the Games Committee, as in previous years we have struggled to get enough volunteers to help on the day. Not only do we benefit from the extra volunteers, SSAFA also get the opportunity to reach out to the public and raise awareness of the work that they do. Our Convenor, Hugh Allison, said “The best solutions are those that help everyone involved - and in this case we all think this is a win-win opportunity, because the Games is also an ideal platform to help SSAFA raise their profile.” David Hurley, the chair of the SSAFA Inverness-shire and Western Isles branch, agreed, saying, “SSAFA is a community charity which strives to work together in the community, to ensure we reach and support as many veterans and wider armed forces families as possible. It makes total sense that we take an active part in such an important community event.”
However, even with this boost, we still desperately require yet more volunteers. After all - many hands make light work!
