VISITOR INFORMATION

The Historic Town of Nairn

Nairn is a beautiful town, nestling on the shores of the Moray Firth. Our micro-climate makes us sunnier and drier than most, making it easier for you to enjoy our lovely beach and riverside walks while here for the Games anyway. Close to the Games arena you will find the childrens’ splashpad and playground, and you will be amazed at the size of the Fairground (Showies) that visit, and set up just east of the Games Field.
The town has a marvellous range of award-winning pubs and restaurants, and Nairn Links is bustling with food, craft and souvenir stalls on Games Day – so why not stroll down and enjoy it.
There are many other attractions too, including golf, water sports, our Moray Firth dolphins, history & heritage, harbour and much more.
See a full description of all we have to offer at VisitNairn

Where, exactly, are the Nairn Highland Games

We have included local details in order to help you to find us, and also to inform you of some of the town’s other attractions.
We have included more detailed directions to assist you in finding the official parking for Nairn Highland Games at Viewfield Drive in Nairn, and then to find your way to the Games Field, so you don’t miss a moment of this exciting day.
You may have questions about our big day. If so – then hopefully you may find the answers in our FAQ’s, but if not then we would encourage you to message us on our
Facebook page

Nairn Highland Games Official parking information

The grounds of Viewfield House are the official car park for Nairn Games. There is a car parking charge of £5 for the day. We feel that this is a modest charge, given that (apart from arena locations) everyone is welcome to enjoy our Highland Games entirely free of charge. Car-pooling make the car parking charge even more economical.
To enter the car park area you will want to turn off the A96 into Viewfield Drive. If you are coming to us from the east (from Forres) then it is a right turn just after the Police Station. If you are coming to us from the west (from Inverness) then it is a left turn just after the bus station car park.

It is only about a 7 minute walk from our car park at Viewfield to Highland Games (and a couple of minutes shorter, from the area of Viewfield that we designate for blue-badge parking) which is why we are always grateful to the Highland Council for the use of Viewfield every year. There are stewards on duty to give you directions. Do try to arrive prior to 11.50am or after 12.45pm, as the massed band parade will be mustering in Viewfield Drive between these times.
